Who we are

The Human Resources department of Equal Employment & Affirmative Action at UCR provides comprehensive services to the campus addressing questions and concerns regarding equal employment opportunity and affirmative action in employment.

What we do

The department strives to eliminate inappropriate barriers in accordance with Federal and State laws, as well as University policies. Services provided to the campus include policy development and updating of the campus' Affirmative Action Plan, as well as advising the campus on laws, rules, regulations, and issues affecting equal opportunity and affirmative action. In addition, the office monitors the recruitment and selection of faculty.

Who we are

Human Resources offers several programs and services to the University community. Employee and labor relations is one of the many programs offered by the Human Resources department at the University of California, Riverside.

What we do

The Employee and Labor Relations Office provides assistance and advice to UCR managers and supervisors in the following areas:

• Performance management/counseling.
• Disciplinary actions, dismissals, release during probation, layoffs, and separation of employees for medical reasons.
• Administration and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements and relevant personnel policies.
• Represents management in employee disputes/grievance proceedings.
• Mediates/negotiates resolution of complaints with employee representatives.
• Administers workers' compensation program.
• Administers unemployment insurance program.
• Coordinates conflict-of-interest process for campus.
• Responds to union information requests/public information requests.

Who we are

Student Conduct and Academic Integrity Programs is responsible for enforcing the University of California Policies Applying to Campus Activities, Organizations and Students.

We exist to educate students about the rights and responsibilities they have as part of the University and surrounding community.

We engage in outreach toward this end and work to assist faculty and staff in encouraging students' accountability to these rights and responsibilities

What we do

The SCAIP mission is completed through the following:

• Draft, interpret, publicize, disseminate, and enforce standards of behavior and related student conduct policies and procedures;
• Promote academic integrity and responsible conduct;
• Provide a means to report concerns regarding behavior of UCR students;
• Assure due process rights are afforded to students who participate in the student conduct process;
• Facilitate learning experiences and opportunities for ethical growth and development for students who participate in the discipline, grievance, and conflict resolution processes;
• Foster respect for others and for the University's work of teaching, research, and service;
• Provide a voice for students, faculty, and staff in the student conduct process via the conduct committees;
• Serve as a resource for the campus community, including students, faculty, and staff.

Who we are

The Title IX/Sexual Harassment Office is responsible for monitoring and evaluating campus efforts to meet the provisions of Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The Title IX/Sexual Harassment Office is available to students, faculty, staff, and visitors for questions and information as well as for confidential discussion regarding personal or general Title IX/Sexual Harassment concerns.

What we do

The office has the primary responsibility for:

• Educating members and visitors of the campus on sexual harassment, sex discrimination and sexual misconduct;
• Counseling individuals involved in complaints;
• Investigating and resolving complaints;
• Reporting findings;
• Making recommendations to the appropriate administrators;
• Developing an annual report of statistics.

What we do

The Senate's chief responsibilities are to:

• Authorize, approve, and supervise all courses (except those of certain graduate professional schools).
• Determine the conditions of admissions, certificates and degrees.
• Recommend the hiring and promotion of faculty members.
• Approve the publication of manuscripts by the University of California Press.
• Advise on the administration of the UC libraries.
• Assist in the searches for deans, chancellors, and presidents.
• Advise the University President and the Chancellors on budget and administrative matters under the rules of "Shared Governance."

Who we are

The UCR Office of the Ombudsperson is an independent and confidential resource for conflict resolution. The Ombudsperson serves the entire campus community - students, staff, faculty, applicants, parents, administrators - by helping to resolve complaints, by providing information and referrals, and by making recommendations for constructive change.

What we do

The Ombudsperson's role is to ensure that all members of the university community receive fair treatment within the university system.

The Ombudsperson will assist with the informal resolution of any university-related complaint or conflict, considering all sides of a question in an impartial and objective way.
